My Butterfly Wreath

I was truly inspired by this butterfly wreath I saw on Pinterest.
I wish I knew who made it so I could thank them for the inspiration.

So, of course, I had to give it a try and make one of my own with what I already have.

I picked up a heart shaped green wreath at Michael's (with a coupon! yay!).
I cut out the butterflies with a Memory Box die pair - one solid - one swirls.

I did the swirls with black card stock and did the solid background with white.

I coloured each butterfly with 3 shades of Copic markers in 5 different colours.

I glued the swirls over the coloured backgrounds and embellished with some small dots of Stickles Diamond. The dots don't show up well in the pics but add some nice detail in person.

I used pins to attach the butterflies to the wreath in a colour blocked scheme.

I tied a bow and pinned it to the corner and voila!.

A lovely bit of colour to welcome Spring.

Mojo 255

Good Morning! I made this card to encourage a friend that needs a little support. I really like this simple sketch for a simple message.

I used: - Verve stamp sets - 'Swan Song' and 'Starstruck'
           - SU Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake CS
           - SU Crumb Cake and Early Espresso pads
           - DSP is retired SU 'Elegant Soiree'
           - Copic E43
           - SU Texture Plate 'Elegant Lines'
           - SU Red Riding Hood pleaded ribbon
           - Nestibilities Circle & Scalloped Circles dies
           - random ivory pearls from my bling stash.
First, I sponged the Very Vanilla cs with Crumb Cake ink. Next. I embossed the Vanilla with 'Elegant Lines' and used it with the depressed side up. I stamped the swan from Verve's "Swan Song' set with SU Early Espresso; highlighted the image with Copic E43, added an ivory pearl for the head and layered the swan in 5 layers with dimensional onto Vanilla and Crumb Cake cut with my dies. I used the sentiment from Verve's 'Starstruck' and stamped it with Early Espresso also.  I added a little SU Red Riding Hood pleaded ribbon for a touch of colour. I layered it all up with dimensionals (12 layers total!! - a new record - LOL) and added a couple more pearls. Ta-da!!!!

Thanks for looking and comments are greatly appreciated.

Mojo 254

Hey! I thought I could do something with Mojo 254.  I haven't been feeling great but I really wanted to enjoy making a card with this sketch. I love this SU DSP 'Springtime Vintage' and I love the digital stamp from A Day for Daisies. She is so lovely! I cut and enlarged one of the little bluebirds for an accent. I used my beloved Copics, SU Very Vanilla ; Baja Breeze and Always Artichoke CS. Ribbon and buttons are Baja Breeze as well. I cut out the pretty girl and the bluebird and popped them with dimensionals. The sentiment is from SU 'Word Play' stamp set.
That's all for now. Maybe I'll be up for a new Mojo challenge next week.

Mojo227 - v 2.0

I decided I'd like to make a Valentine with the Mojo 227 sketch.  The cross stitched chocolate is actually a fridge magnet my friend can pop off and keep.  I don't remember where I got the cross stitch pattern for the chocolate but if you would like a copy, send me an email & I'll send it to you.

I used: SU Chocolate Chip, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Kraft, Basic Black & Real Red cs; SU Early Espresso ribbon & Cherry Chocolate Drop Dew Drops; SU Whisper White ink; Heart Blocks Cuttlebug folder; Nestabilities Labels Eight; initial 'X' & 'O' - http://www.impressrubberstamps.com/.  Sentiment printed with pc using Chocolate Box font with dark brown.

Mojo227

OK, I saw the sketch for Mojo227 and it said one thing to me - BOOKMARKS!  So, if you're like me and tired of being ribbed about your 'guilty-pleasure' reading materials, here's a nifty little solution.  I used Mojo227 and instead of a card, I made a super cute book cover with a pocket for 2 bookmarks & a sweet ribbon to hold it all together.  Looks like I'm all set for a relaxed poolside afternoon with a great (incognito) bodice-ripper this summer!

I used some old SU DSP - Island Oasis; Old Olive Ribbon; Old Olive & Tempting Turquoise CS & a random flower that works.  I wrapped the DSP all the way around the book & folded the extra under the cover.

Thanks to Mom & Dad

It was finally time to update my tiny bathroom this summer.  Thanks to Mom & Dad my bathroom went from old & dated to my own little personal spa.

Here's the little Thank You card I made for them!

Time for Cake

My friend, Debbie is doing the decorations for the 85th anniversary for her lodge.  The Ladies decided they liked the little cake boxes as party favours for their event and I said I would help Debbie make them.  I couldn't wait to see what a whole cake looked like put together, so I made one. Each box is completely hand made - 12 slices make one cake and we need twelve cakes. One down - eleven more to go!  Fantastic!  So cute - I love them!

Due to popular demand, I'm posting links to the patterns for this cake.

Notes for making 'the cake':

You need:
  • 3 sheets of 12"x12" patterned paper
  • 3 sheets of 12"x12" white card stock.
  • Cuttlebug & D'vine Swirls folder
  • Lace Border Punch
  • paper snips
  • Bling to match your paper
  • white glue & toothpicks
  • one roll of 1/4" Sticky Strip tape
  • paper doily
  • 2 ft - 1"ribbon
  • scotch tape
Instructions:
  • Cut 12"x12" paper into 4 - 6" squares.
  • print 12 'tops' on white paper
  • print 12 'bottoms' on wrong side of the patterned paper
  • cut out all the pieces
  • score, fold & glue bottoms
  • score tops
  • punch straight edges of tops with lace punch
  • run 'tops' thru Cuttlebug
  • fold & tape tops
  • embellish tops with bling
  • fill with treats & put the tops on
  • arrange on a plate over doily to form a cake
  • wrap ribbon on outer edge of cake to hold pieces together
Have fun!!

My New Little Friend

Hi!  I have had a special new 'visitor' living near my front door this summer.  I've named her 'Gianormo'!  She's an orb spider or sometimes called a 'cat-face' spider. She's lovely!

We don't have a lot of spiders her size around here -  too cold - but she has really grown over this summer.  I've watched her eat a moth twice and groom herself once.  Too cool!  BTW, what looks like a cat face is on her back -  or should I say it's the back of her ....EGG SACK!!!!!   WHOOOOOO!  Lots of lil' Gianormos next summer!

Mojo 200!!!

Congrats to Julia Tilman/Verve for the 200th Mojo Monday Challenge.

I am SO IN LOVE with my copics!  I have been spending way toooo much time playing with colour & shading but I just adore them.  I found a really great website that has fantastic digital stamp designs - Wax Fruit Company.  These digitals are perfect for experimenting with your copics.  I used the "Simply Sown" digital in the Flora section for this card.  It's an amazing image to practice shading with.
Here's what the digi looks like (without the watermark when you buy it, of course) -

And here's what I did with it -

I used:  Wax Fruit Company "Simply Sown" digital image; SU Pattern Pack III DSP - Mellow Moss; Black CS; Watercolour paper; copics (C0-C4, G20-G29); SU Basic Gray taffeta ribbon and; SU Circle brads; 1 3/4 circle punch; Nestibilities- circle; sentiment done on MSWord.

I have also been playing around with another image from Wax Fruit Company  - Gammaw's Quilt (look in This & That).  I love the way the quilt folds.

I used:    Wax Fruit Company  - Gammaw's Quilt; SU Pattern Pack III DSP -  Really Rust; Really SU Rust CS & ink; Watercolour paper; Verve stamp 'Plain Jane - Feel Better'; too many copics to remember (sorry); SU Mistletoe ribbon; K & Company brad.

Have a happy day!

Burlesque Bessie - SOOOOO Cute!

Hey! Tomorrow is my neighbour Jan's 40th birthday, so I decided to make something fun for her.  I just love this digi stamp from Bizzy Becs OnLine Blog Store.  Of course, any reason to use my copics is a celebration for me.
I used some B&W retired SU paper, Glitter Stack paper, dollar store bling, copics & my crimper to give the curtains some texture.
I hope Jan has the happiest of birthdays!

Just Some Random Cards

We still have snow here which means it's too early for gardening and I was tired of cleaning so I have been just doing what I want. And this is what I wanted to do... just some Random Cards for all kinds of occasions.
I bought the Grab Bag from the Stampin Up clearance and I challenged myself to make something with what was in it.  I also enjoy trying the same style &/or image but mixing & matching.  Or I have elements left from other projects and I use them in a different way.
It's all about being a little creative and a great way to spend some snowy days!
